Recently, I was lucky enough to capture the incredibly special wedding of two AMAZING people! It was a fun-filled, slightly hectic day but oh so amazing. I couldn’t help but laugh as I was going through photos though…
So, almost everyone plans their wedding day down to the minute. But very rarely does everything pan out the way the bride and groom has planned. With this wedding in particular, the bride’s dress wasn’t there in time for portraits and the ceremony started a little late because someone had left a wedding band at home. Instead of outdoor portraits on the beautiful golf green at Greenbrier Country Club, we improvised and did bridal and bridal party portraits right there in the locker room. Frankly…they couldn’t have turned out more amazing!
Editing is a huuuuge part of the job
I have noticed that a lot of people think that once you’re done at a shoot, be it wedding or portraits, that my job is done. NOPE! Editing can be the longest part of the job depending on different factors from the session. For instance…I could have said, “Too bad, so sad. Your portraits were in a locker room and that’s just how it is.” Instead, I spent a great deal of time making sure that the editing made my client look as flattering as possible, cleaning up the background, and editing numbers and locks off of all of the lockers. It’s important to make sure that you hire a photographer that will care about the details in your photos.
Make the photos fun…no matter what
So many things were happening that could have put a damper on these photos. They had to be taken in the locker room because guests had already arrived and were surrounding the lobby and ceremony area. The bride’s wedding band had been left at home and someone was rushing there to get it MINUTES before the ceremony. The flower girl was sad and just wanted to snuggle her mommy. But none of these things needed to show in the photos. It’s important as a professional to keep things positive and be sure that your client has the best experience as possible. I think we did a pretty good job that day at keeping wedding stress out of these photos.
I cannot say enough how grateful I am that Greenbrier Country Club has these beautiful locker rooms that made all of this possible!
